Happy Birthday to the man that made it all possible! Our founder, Cecil Bank, turned 102 years old last week.
From humble beginnings, Cecil Bank opened his first shoe store in Wellington in 1938. His primary customers were soldiers returning home from the Second World War. Bank Shoes on High Street was the first store in New Zealand to x-ray customers feet, ensuring a flawless fit to all his loyal customers. With 75 years in the shoe trade and 17 stores under the Banks Group name, Cecil devoted himself to building a chain of thriving footwear stores.
Happy Birthday Cecil Bank!
