Winter Style Inspiration: Top Shoe Picks

Need more style inspiration? Our staff show you their top shoe picks for surviving the cold weather!

We’ve reached the pinnacle of the Winter season (the shortest day of the year was on Monday) but we predict that the chilly weather will be more persistent than we would like! With all pessimism aside, we’re pretty happy about wrapping up in big duffle coats and winter shoes.

To celebrate the middle of winter we captured three of our Shoe Connection staff wearing their favourite winter warmers from our seasonal collection, each channeling their own personal style.
Find out what tips they have for winter and their favourite pairs of the season.

Sophie / Online Contentsophie_full Sophie wears Kowtow cape, edt. 5 turtle-neck, Twenty-Seven Names pinafore, Karen Walker sunglasses and Miss Sofie ankle boots.

What pair of Shoe Connection shoes can you not live without this winter?
Mystery by Miss Sofie is a classic and versatile ankle boot which looks good with both dresses and jeans. The suede upper and gusset detailing is very 70s-esque.

Your favourite winter destination?
Nothing beats a crisp winters day at the beach in Island Bay.

Favourite mid-winter dish?
Ramen from The Ramen Shop in Newtown. Their Ramen literally cures the winter blues.

What is your favourite part of winter?
Layering, without a doubt. A great excuse to wear multiple coats at the same time!

Favourite wintery hues to wear?
Navy, mustard and maroon. Essentially the wintery versions of the primary colours! But when in doubt, black usually does the trick.

Wellness tips for the Wellington winter?
Crank the heater up. The power bill is so worth it.

What’s on your winter playlist?
The new Unknown Mortal Orchestra album! Plus Sharon Van Etten, Sufjan Stevens, Tame Impala, Hundred Waters, Angel Olsen… Heaps!

Isaac / Cuba Street Storeisaac_fullIsaac wears Neuw chinos, Hallensteins duffle coat, AS Colour tee and Wild Rhino boots.

What pair of Shoe Connection shoes can you not live without this winter?
My Wild Rhino Dalton boots are great. I wear them with a big duffle coat and a pair of slacks. The perfect go to outfit for those cold Wellington days.

Your favourite winter destination?
Anywhere indoors, preferably with a heater!

What is your top pick-me-up for winter?
A V or a coffee… doesn’t really matter as long as it has caffeine in it.

What is your favourite part about winter?
Cozy-ing up with the girlfriend watching movies

How do you plan to stand out this season?
I don’t plan on it!

Wellness tips for the Wellington winter?
Don’t bother with umbrellas – they are useless. Wear lots of layers.

Who is your style muse this winter?
I am my own Muse LOL!

Tash / Marketingtash_fullTash wears Superette shirt, Kowtow jacket, Levi jeans and adidas Superstars.

What pair of Shoe Connection shoes can you not live without this winter?
I definitely can’t live without my adidas Superstars – I’ll wear them with pretty much everything!

Favourite mid-winter dish?
Leek and potato soup – so yummy and it keeps you warm.

What is your top pick-me-up for winter?
I have a huge sweet tooth, so something with chocolate of course.

What is your favourite part about winter?
Coats – I love Winter coats, you can never have enough!

Favourite wintery colours to wear?
I’m a big fan of monochrome, so Black, White & Grey would be my colours of choice.

What’s on your winter playlist?
I’ve found myself listening to a whole lot of alt-J recently.

Who is your style muse this winter?
Jasmine Dowling & Madelynn Furlong (from Wide Eyed Legless) – minimalist style that’s so timeless!
