Shoe Connection love giving back to the community and have been supporting Tear Fund NZ for many years. Tear Fund NZ is a New Zealand based charity and organisation, bringing aid and serving communities across Africa, Asia and South America.

Tear Fund stands for The Evangelical Alliance Relief Fund, an organisation formed in Britain in the 1950s in response to African famine. It later became a permanent organisation and Tear Fund NZ group was formed in 1975. Tear Fund partners with local Christian organisations and churches in developing countries. They use local staff that work directly with the poorest people, helping them find their own solutions, cutting out the middleman and reducing costs. Their key activities are child sponsorship, Microenterprise, community development projects and disaster relief.

Here at Shoe Connection, we sponsor 16 children through the Tear Fund organisation. The assistance we offer provides our sponsored children with healthcare, nutrition, clothing, education and an opportunity for spiritual development. Each store is assigned a sponsored child and the staff are able to correspond with the children by writing letters and sending cards through the TEAR Fund translator. We are really pleased that through our support, children are able to have a better education and their standard of living and their communities are improved for the better.
